MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER – CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Construction Engineering Design Team in our continuous pursuit of excellence in safety, quality, and performance. The Mechanical Design Engineer will provide Engineering services to lead and support New Product Development and Continuous Improvement projects on our construction product line.
Key tasks & Responsibilities will include:
- Design of products for the DROMONE construction product line – this includes but is not limited to quick couplers & tilting quick couplers.
- Taking a design from concept right through to production following the DROMONE NPI (New Product Introduction) process.
- Carrying out FEA studies on both new and existing products.
- Working with key customers to deliver projects & address technical queries.
- Communicating with suppliers on technical queries.
- Input to, and driver of Innovation and New Product Development activities.
- Review of and input to IP (Intellectual Property) activities.
- Implementing design changes through Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
- Problem solving.
- Project managing the production of prototype product through the manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum Level 7 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication & technical reporting skills.
- Good time management skills and ability to organise workload.
- Good problem-solving ability with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to integrate quickly into a team environment and work on own initiative.
- Good basic understanding of the principles of hydraulics would be a distinct advantage.
- Previous experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) would be an advantage.
